The most beautiful villages of Tenerife

As well as being an ideal destination for its climate and incredible beaches, Tenerife has urban centres that are well worth a visit. With a total of 31 municipalities, the island is home to a wide variety of charming hamlets, villages and small towns.

For this reason, from Villa Adeje Beach we invite you to discover some of the most beautiful villages in Tenerife. You will love them!

Garachico

Located in the northwest of the island, Garachico is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Tenerife. It was the island’s main commercial port until it was buried by a volcanic eruption in 1706.

It has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest for its great architectural heritage. It has a historic quarter worth visiting for its buildings, its cobbled streets and its beautiful landscape. In addition, one of its main tourist attractions is its seafront promenade. Here you will find one of the most famous natural swimming pools on the island, known as “El Caletón”, a perfect place to take a dip.

If you have the opportunity, make a stop in Garachico on your route around Tenerife. You won’t regret it!

Masca

As we have already mentioned in other blog posts, Masca is one of the most charming villages in Tenerife. It is a hamlet also located in the northwest of the island, where the houses are located between cliffs and palm trees, being a clear example of the rural architecture of the island.

This hamlet is a Site of Ethnographic and Historical Interest. Thus, here we can visit the Ethnographic Museum of Masca, where its importance is explained. It is also home to the Masca ravine, one of the most famous trails on the island, which ends at an incredible beach.

Masca is undoubtedly one of the most unique and beautiful villages on the island. You have to visit it!

Vilaflor

At the foot of Mount Teide, in the midlands of the south of Tenerife, we find Vilaflor. It is one of the highest villages in Spain, at an altitude of 1,500 metres.

This village is another example of rural landscape on the island, surrounded by undeniable natural beauty. It also has a great historical and cultural heritage, making a stroll through the old town a real experience.

Vilaflor is synonymous with tranquillity, as it is far from the tourist areas. If you are staying in the south of Tenerife, make a stop and get to know Vilaflor, you will fall in love with it!

La Orotava

If we talk about beautiful villages in Tenerife, La Orotava has to be on the list. This village is located in the north of the island. It is one of the oldest villages in the Canary Islands, so it has a historical and cultural heritage that is well worth a visit.

Its historic quarter was declared a Historic-Artistic Site, as it preserves a great architectural wealth: buildings, stately homes, gardens… Its colourful houses with wooden balconies are a symbol of the town, as well as its incredible views of the Teide and the sea.

La Orotava is, without a doubt, one of the towns in Tenerife that you must visit.

La Caleta (Adeje)

If you are enjoying a holiday in the south of Tenerife, La Caleta is a must-see. This fishing village is located very close to Costa Adeje, and is considered one of the most beautiful on the island.

This is an old fishing pier known for its incredible rocky beaches. It is also home to some of the best seafood restaurants on the island.

This fishing village is ideal for a stroll along the coast, a swim, a meal and even a sunset overlooking the island of La Gomera.

In short, Tenerife has numerous villages whose beauty and heritage make them unique.

From Villa Adeje Beach we want to bring you a little closer to the culture of the island, and we invite you to complement your stay with us by visiting some of these wonderful places. We look forward to seeing you in Tenerife!
