We continue to introduce you to the people who make up the Villa Adeje Beach Hotel team. In today’s post we talk to Marco, our Dishwasher, meet him!
More than 20 years of experience in hospitality
Marco has been working with us as a waiter for 2 years, but he has 27 years of experience in the sector. Although he has worked in different hotels in the south of the island, Marco emphasises the familiarity of Villa Adeje Beach: “It is a family hotel and the work is carried out in a different way, it is much more enjoyable”.
Marco’s daily tasks in the hotel kitchen
Marco’s daily tasks as a kitchen steward include washing dishes, organising and cleaning materials, taking and sorting orders, helping to restock the buffet… In this sense, his work is essential for the functioning of the kitchen and for the hotel to be able to comply with all sanitary controls.
As he works inside the kitchen, Marco has less contact with customers than his colleagues. However, guests often ask him questions and he takes the opportunity to chat with them for a while.
“The relationship with my colleagues is great”
When asked about his colleagues, Marco highlights the good relationship he has with the head chef and the rest of the staff: “The relationship with my colleagues is great”.
Moreover, as it is a family hotel, he tells us that he has a good relationship not only with his colleagues but also with the hotel’s top management. “At Villa Adeje Beach the relationship is much closer than at other hotels”, he says.
Christmas galas and special occasions
When the Christmas season arrives at the hotel, Marco participates together with his colleagues in the Galas, organising and transporting the necessary material.
One of the most special moments for him is when a Christmas card competition is organised among the employees. Last year, Marco was one of the prize winners.
