Nightlife in Tenerife South: A Guide to Choosing Your Perfect Night

Nightlife in Tenerife South: A Guide to Choosing Your Perfect Night

South Tenerife doesn’t switch off when the sun goes down. If anything, that’s when some of its best experiences begin. And the good news is there’s no single type of night out here — there are as many as there are types of traveller.

Fancy a quiet drink with sea views? Prefer to dance until sunrise? Or something in between, with live music and a well-made cocktail? Here’s the full lowdown, from laid-back to full-on, so you can pick the one that suits you.

Rooftops and Terraces with a View: the Most Sophisticated Option

If you want to end the day in style, the south of Tenerife has several rooftops and terraces built for exactly that. Signature cocktails, live music or gentle DJ sets, and some of the best coastal views around as the sun goes down. It’s the perfect choice for a special dinner, a couple’s night out, or simply extending the evening without needing to hit the dance floor. Plenty of hotels in the area, including several in Costa Adeje, have their own rooftop bar for watching the sunset, drink in hand.

Pubs and Bars: the Most Sociable Scene

Between the quiet terrace and the nightclub, there’s a whole world of pubs and bars — ideal if what you’re after is good conversation, a bit of music, and a relaxed atmosphere without the noise of a club. Areas like Los Cristianos are packed with pubs that are firm favourites with locals and regular visitors alike, with live music on some nights and a friendly welcome that really shows. They’re great spots for that first drink of the evening, catching the football, or just having a chat without needing to shout over the music.

Beach Clubs with Events: Party with Your Feet in the Sand

If you’re after something between chill-out and full-blown party, the south’s beach clubs are well worth a look. They combine great food, cocktails and DJ-led events right by the sea:

  • Monkey Beach Club (Playa de Troya): terrace, top-tier DJs, and its famous Sunday sunset sessions, with the atmosphere building as the night goes on.
  • Papagayo Beach Club (Costa Adeje): one of the island’s best-known venues. A beachfront restaurant by day, it transforms after dark with international DJ sets and a proper party atmosphere.
  • Le Club (Playa Fañabé): a more refined beach club, with Balinese beds and a relaxed vibe — ideal if you’re after a quieter evening as a couple with good background music.
  • Kaluna Beach Club: sunset, a pool, and live DJs — another solid option if you’re into the beach club format.

These are flexible plans — you can pop by for dinner and stay just for the sunset, or keep the night going if the atmosphere pulls you in.

The Heart of the Party: Playa de las Américas

If you’re after a proper night out, this is your zone. Playa de las Américas is the epicentre of south Tenerife’s nightlife, with Las Verónicas and Starco as its two big hitters.

Las Verónicas is a complex of several buildings along the seafront where dozens of bars, pubs and clubs are packed in together, including Tramps Tenerife, known for its international crowd and popular with younger visitors. Across the road, the Starco Shopping Centre offers a similar scene, with bars, clubs and fast-food spots to refuel between drinks.

If you fancy something a bit more local, Achaman Disco Pub goes for Latin and Canarian music, and is a firm favourite among residents.

Worth knowing: these areas are mainly geared towards a younger, international crowd, with venues that tend to get going around 9–10pm and stay open well into the early hours.

A Calmer Vibe: Costa Adeje’s Seafront Promenade

If you’d rather keep the volume down and the conversation up, the promenade between Torviscas beach and Puerto Colón is the place for you. This is where much of Costa Adeje’s more relaxed evening buzz is found: restaurants, cocktail bars and seafront terraces, many with live music.

It’s a lovely spot for dinner, a drink afterwards, and a stroll with the Atlantic in the background. One practical tip, though: from around 11pm, some venues start winding down for the night.

Prefer to Stay Close to the Hotel?

Not every night needs to be an expedition. At Villa Adeje Beach, we know that after a day of beach, pool and sunshine, sometimes all you want is to relax without the fuss.

That’s why our evenings have their own plan too: entertainment for the whole family, a friendly atmosphere where you’ll bump into fellow guests, and the reassurance that if you’d rather stay in, you’ll still have a great time. And if you do fancy heading out to explore the local nightlife, our location puts you right in the thick of it — close to Playa de las Américas, well connected, and just minutes from Tenerife South Airport.

Our Recommendation

You don’t have to pick just one plan for your whole holiday. Mix a rooftop evening with cocktails and views, a night at a beach club like Papagayo or Monkey Beach, another out partying in Las Verónicas, and one more staying in and enjoying our evening entertainment. That, in the end, is the best way to experience the south of Tenerife: no rush, entirely at your own pace.
